Serious Offer

The other day, in response to Andrew Sullivan’s subscription drive, I posted that I would be willing to blog full-time for $93,000.00. While I disagree with doing pledge drives every six months, I was serious on my offer. If $93,000.00 comes in and stays in the account, I will blog full-time.

What does this mean? It means that I will not take a job I have been verbally offered, and that I will no longer have to do things pseudo-anonymously. It means that I can cover some topics in more detail, since there will no longer be conflict of interest problems. It means that I will research stories, travel to them when practical, and make this site my job. It does not mean that I will sit at the computer all day and become a blob; it does not mean that blogging will be my life. Instead, I promise you that my life will be contain things well worth blogging about. I will be able to work on better posts on a variety of philosophical and topical issues, and that I can and will do things to improve myself, my mind, and, therefore, my blogging.

Anything above $93k will be used to travel to more distant or exotic locations, such as going to the Middle East, Russia, or elsewhere to pursue things. It will be used for checking out products and services, and for continuing my education. The latter is because I believe that the day we truly die is the day we quit learning. I have no intention of dying anytime soon. So, know that I am serious about this.
