I Miss My Stalker

It got rather interesting for a while, having someone lurking, waiting for you to appear. I never knew where they would come from, hiding out of sight in the breezeway or lurking by my car. But Tigersocks is now gone, and I actually miss the little stinker.

He had made it very clear lately that I was now his chosen pet, lurking in wait for me to come out. He hid on the stairs, in neighbor's doorways, and even slept under my car on occasion waiting for me. About the only thing he didn't do was spider up above my doorway and drop down from above. When I cheated and oiled the hinges of my door so they no longer squeaked, he changed pattern and began sleeping either on my doormat or my across the hall neighbor's.

Part of it was, I fear, a kitty con job and some of it I also think may have been real. I fed him when it did not appear his owners were, but after a point I noticed that they were doing so in a way that all the neighbors could see. Probably a good idea as several of us had noted the absence of food and his being out all the time instead of just part time.

He wanted to come inside and live with me, and made that plain. My explanations to him of allergies, the fact that no flea collar meant he had too much local flora and fauna, and such were less than nothing to him. Tigersocks pressed his case with purrs, leg rubs, and head butts. I did try to teach him that leg rubs while going down the stairs were not a good idea, but think that made about as much impression as my talk of allergies. My balance and coordination have improved.

Tigersocks would have really loved me last night. Among the various odors I was wearing was that of achovies from getting to help plate some salads for a party. I think he might have swooned over that.

Kiddo, I hope that your new home is a real one, a good one, and a nice one for you and your pets. May they do right by you in all ways, and though I can't take you in myself, if you need a place just come back by. You will get taken care of, I promise.
