This We Remember

This is not a day for diatribe, for gain, or for posturing. This day belongs not to us, but to those who left us that day, and to the future that will come from it.

It is a day to remember those who died at the Pentagon, the Twin Towers, Flight 93, and elsewhere. The heroes who died getting others to safety, be they civilians, firemen, police, or military. Those that died so that others could live. The innocent victims of an act of war.

Some of my own words about that day can be found here. But where I think you should go to are: Voices, the excellent site put together tirelessly by Michele and here, where Momma Bear has put together a set of sites that are well worth the read.

Save the speeches, save the talk. Simply take the time to remember what happened, look at the images, remember those who died, remember those “simply” injured, and remember all those who lost friends and family on this day. Light a candle, say a prayer, cast a spell of remembrance, toll a bell, whatever it is you do to remember and honor those taken, and those left behind. Do it with dignity. Tomorrow will be soon enough for the rest.
