Honduras

I am not going to take part in the frenzy of coward calling and such that is probably sweeping the blogosphere this morning. The Honduran troops were serving under the Spanish, and there are a number of considerations here that mitigate the action. With the withdrawal of the Spanish, it does present Honduras with a number of problems. So, I will not call them cowards or such this morning. What I will call them is oath breakers. They took up an obligation and pledged themselves and their honor to something more than the Spanish, and they have failed of that obligation.

I would have to know what their Logistics and C2 problems are before I could go one way or the other.

First, I would see all of their comms being in...Spanish. Little tough to integrate with a US Brigade Combat Team. So they need to be inserted into a like speaking command.

Secondly, what and how they are supplied goes a long way in determining how they maintain. I would think them typical Light Infantry, so their Log tail would be almost non-existant.

Finally, their Command/Support position will determine their suitability once the above two questions are answered. If you have them, they will likely be either as OPCON, Attached, or in Direct Support. If OPCON, you have them welded solidly into place in your organization. Unlikely to have happened. If Attached, they are part and parcel of your unit, but higher can detach them immediately and use them elsewhere. I see this as likely. Direct Support places them in an AO and under direction of a Brigade Commander, but not tied in with other units in the area. Possible, but unlikely.

If the Spaniards were the C2 as well as the Log HQ for them, they may have no other choice than to come home.
