Excuse Me, What Is More Important?

The marginality and political bias of the 9-11 Commission has just been proven beyond all doubt for me by the behavior of two members. After all the wailing, complaining, and outright tantrums to get unprecedented access to the President, two members – one of whom I seem to remember was a chief complainer – chose to walk out on the meeting because they had more important things to do. The overweening arrogance and lack of judgment this shows is staggering. I will never take those two seriously on any issue ever again, and I am more convinced than ever that nothing of any substance can come from this farce.

So, lessee:

We have the chairman saying it's none of our business how the commission is run.

We have one member who is on the wrong side of the table.

We have two members who make political points by not doing their jobs.

Shut it down. NOW.

Please name names...both the two mentioned in the post and those mentioned in the first comment...they should be named and shamed publicly!

But there was a so important reason to leave early. As I recall, he had to introduce the new Canadian PM or some such official at a luncheon.

Much more important that the hopeless 9/11 commission.

"Unprecidented access"??? I'm sorry, but that's an utter crock. Kenneth Starr had infinitely more access to the last president, over nothing more important than the diddling of an intern. The hypocracy of the Republicans who are now crying foul is both revolting and astounding.

Yes, unprecedented. Study your history and compare apples to apples. Starr did not have this level of access except under subpoena in regards a criminal investigation. The 9-11 commission is many things, but a criminal investigation it is not. Study your history, for those who do not are doomed to repeat it -- in summer school or in real life.
