Small World, Part One

Earlier this week, I got a steer towards some possible work out in Salt Lake City and made the appropriate contact. As it turns out, it was a bum steer but the contact person sent me back a very nice e-mail letting me know that, and apologizing for any inconvenience the bad release of info may have caused me. I wrote back to thank them and apologize as well for wasted time, and mentioned that I had a fantasy of going out there and finding out if this Italian import grocery and deli in the warehouse district was still there. I got an almost immediate response of “It is” and they knew it well.

We had found the place while out on a press inspection. Press inspections can be very fun, and can also be very wearing, as you may have to go in every 2-3 hours for several days. This one was not too bad, but our little team was driving back from the printer towards our hotel through the warehouse district when we noticed this little place. Intrigued, we turned around and went back, and were glad we did.

The grocery was amazing, with important canned goods, meats, cheeses, and more. The deli took the same ingredients and turned out amazing sandwiches and meals for extremely reasonable prices. It being lunchtime we sampled. We then shopped the grocery and bought items for breakfast and supper, so that we stretch our per diem dollars to the max. I seem to recall that we even went back and bought some stuff to put in our suitcases and take home with us.

It is good to know they are still there, and doing well.
