Farewell To Tim And Capt. Patti

Sir,

I understand your reasons very well, but I must dispute one supposition of yours most strongly. You state in your wonderful farewell post that “My departure will not appreciably affect the blogosphere in any way.” On this point you are most sadly mistaken, for your departure will remove a voice of reason, of civility, of rational discourse, and of responsibility. I have no doubt that your departure will indeed have a large effect upon the world of you and Patti, for the best, and you would indeed be a fool not to devote your time and energies to that world. Yet, the world of the blogosphere is indeed diminished by your departure. I do wish you both the best in all things.
