What A Week/Want Work

Well, this has been one heck of a week. I packed up in Huntsville, cleaned to the point that the apartment could almost be rented out again immediately, and moved into a temporary lair here in the Atlanta area. I love being back here.

Some family very graciously took in my plants, which means a lot to me. The shamrock plant was grown from seed brought back from Ireland by my Mother; the Thanksgiving cactus has been in the family for at least 15 years; the aloe plant is ready to spawn and is just one part of the huge plants Dad raised; and, the thai peppers are coming along nicely for pepper jelly despite the last major set of storms flattening them. The cactus got almost as much attention on the drive over here, as it filled the passenger seat and then some, as did having Bun-Bun ride shotgun on the first trip over here. Yes, he rode shotgun, are you going to argue with him when he calls it? And he sure as heck was not going to drive, bad things happen when Bun-Bun drives.

Integration proceeds. Some of my Scottish kin have re-enrolled me in the Clan Donnachaidh Society South at catpoint; I had a very nice lunch earlier this week with Michael Mealling of Rocket Forge; I am very much looking forward to a promised dinner with a venture capitalist of my acquaintance; the dating scene awaits (note to trolls: I am a prevert and not a pervert; until a certain professor gets around to scheduling the makeup exam I will remain a prevert. Grumble. Who knew there was an exam?!); and, there is a Protest Warrior meeting tomorrow that will take me down into Buckhead.

That said, the work that originally prompted this move proved to be – as expected – so much smoke. I have pretty well known this for a couple of weeks, but moved anyway since the job market is so much better here. If you know anyone who can use a good writer/editor (despite the evidence of this day journal), strategist and tactician who can do PR and Business Development, please do let me know. Full time or freelance, I will do it all. Besides, if I can bring in a million dollars a year (or more) in new business/investment to a government agency, imagine what I can do for you. Also, I do consult on disaster preparedness and security issues as well. Who knows, maybe we can even find a job here for Baldilocks as well. My resume is here and I can and will provide references and a detailed vita, and I will relocate almost anywhere in the world for the right challenge/opportunity. All help is very much appreciated, and I do show my appreciation.

Welcome to the ATL, where we can always use another blogger! As long as their last name isn't "Sherman." Good luck on the job hunt, and if I hear of any relevant freelance work, I'll let you know.
