Start Hurricane Preparations Now

Okay, since the Old Media is largely ignoring it, I want to start pointing out some good posts on the fact that Frances is headed to Florida. What is Frances, you ask? Why, yet another strong and growing hurricane.

Sekimori has some good information here. Boudicca's Voice has some more information and thoughts here. Val notes it and its similarities to Andrew.

If you live in Florida, you really, really, really need to keep an eye on it. And what is coming behind it, as this looks to be a really bad year for storms.

I would like to point out for the record that mine is satirical... Don't want any O-ffended letters. :)

Yep, but that just makes it fun. :)

Sekimori's piece may be satirical, but, let me tell you, it is based on fact.

Sekimori's post was very funny.

And yes, we are taking this one pretty seriously. But then again, I took Charley pretty serious too. I'm just really worried about my Miami friends. I really think the worst we'll see up here in Central Florida will be the after storms and tornados, but I'm not taking any chances at all.

I just wish they'd put more info out on it. I have to really hunt for updates, and if this sucker keeps going the way it is, it won't be good. And people need a chance to get the hell out.

Well, we wanted more info. We got it. Targeted to hit Melbourne/Vero on Saturday if it stays on course. Then Orlando on Sunday. That means the part of my territory that didn't get SLAMMED a couple of weeks ago is in serious trouble now. Plus, Orlando is still reeling from Charley. The trees that are left will not stand a chance.

I've made arrangements to head to family if things keep going this way. Lucky for me, I never pulled everything out of the garage.

YIKES. I'm starting to think it's ME! I lived by the coast for 8 years and nothing but a couple Tropical Storms. I move to the center of the state and WHAM 2 in 3 weeks.

Is it November yet?

They're targeting Vero/Melbourne, but we're preparing down here in WPB. Everyone is in a panic and we're 5 days out. I know people evacuating already. This one is a big one and even if it smacks into Vero, we'll get some down here. I just don't see it hitting Vero though. I think it's more this way. Not happy. Not happy at all.

And thank you, kind sir, for the linkage! :)

Oh gosh, not again. The Seikimoro bit was very funny.

I'll be thinking of you guys with this one, my son was in Florida flying during and after Charley and has some interesting stories to tell. I made it through a super Typhoon in the Philippines a few years back that killed 300 and have had to deal with Cyclone problems as a Fire Fighter in my career. Evacuate if you can and sit it out, the satelite pictures don't look good at all!
