Quick Thoughts On RNC Speeches

Whatever else can be said, oratory is not dead. It is alive and well at the RNC.

McCain: Good speech, and one that helped restore some small part of the respect I've lost for him over the last few years.

Rudy: Good, even great. Thought he had lost the audience rambling, but then he brought it all together and left them on a high.

Arnold: A GREAT speaker. While the amendment to let him run will come soon, I have mixed emotions on that, though I wish he could run as his social views are far closer to mine than that of the dinosaur wing of the RNC currently in control.

Twins: Good eye candy, painful to watch. Then, got to thinking: these are not the pampered and carefully prepped scions of faux nobility set to go do nobilise obilige with the proles; instead, the twins are the proles. That may yet prove to be a good move, though I still cringe over parts of it.

Laura Bush: Speech did not really work great for me, but it was not aimed at me. Seems to have had a strong effect on target audience. Wish they had ignored protocol and put her first, so that Arnold closed.

More thoughts later.

Arnold was awesome! Watched the speech with Smash over a cold one and was truly moved by his impression (as a young man) of the U.S. and even more moved that he still feels this way.
