If, Like Me, You Take Vioxx

Go here for some important information. If the server is swamped, you can get some coverage here though I suspect coverage here will be some of the best around. Talk to your doctor, and to your pharmacist. Calmly.

PS: What has me PO'd right now is not that the suspected link is confirmed, or even that it is now off the market. It is that I just spent $100 yesterday refilling the prescription, and said prescription can't be returned.

Also, for good medical coverage I am going to Galen to see what he says, and to make use of the wonderful healthcare blogroll he has up.

UPDATE: A WWW Site has been established that includes instructions on how to get a refund on unused Vioxx.

Let me warn you now, I went the Mobic route with a sports injury last year and had some serious side effects not listed on any of the web sites or anywhere else. (I did extensive research before I took the drug.) I was adament I was NOT going to take any drug and I was assured by the specialist I would be fine. I was not. When I went to my internist with my big problems, she instantly traced it back to the Mobic and then told me 'she sees this all the time with the drug.' I felt like a fool, went back to the internet and sure enough, NONE of it was listed.

That whole group, Vioxx, Mobic and Celebrex... be careful. To some it is a miracle drug, to others a long term curse.

If you've done well with Vioxx, you'll probably do OK with either Bextra or Celebrex, if you're not allergic to sulfa drugs. In my clinical experience, they both tend to be pretty well tolerated.
