November 20, 2004Comfort FoodThe last week or so have been hectic and stressful, and have seen me drive almost to Chicago and all around the area. Things have been good, and things have been not so good with some checks not arriving and other delights. So, I found myself yesterday wanting comfort food, in this case Russian comfort food while I was out for meetings. Didn’t get what I really wanted, but close enough. Had things been different, I would have loved more regular comfort foods of homemade mac and real hot chocolate. What are the foods that comfort you, and why? LW Comments Homemade chicken and noodles. With homemade bread and a slice of homemade apricot/pineapple pie. It all reminds me of my family. We cook because we love, and if I'm having a rough time - that's as close to a hug as you can get. Hang in there my friend. Posted by: Tammi at November 20, 2004 03:00 PMIt's a German food called Bierocks (I think I misspelled it). My Dad got the recipe from some friends when we lived overseas and my Mom and he cook it together. They're like small meat pies. Meat, cabbage, dough... can't beat that! (The whole memory thing of my folk's in the kitchen too.) And dark chocolate. It always makes me happy. Throw a carb in there like cake and I am good to go... until the next morning when I step on the scale! Posted by: Boudicca at November 20, 2004 04:15 PMPeanut butter and jelly sandwich and a big-ass glass of milk. Posted by: Jim - PRS at November 21, 2004 12:18 AMI have to go with McDonalds double quarter pounder with cheese, unless I'm within shouting distance of my Mom, and in that case it's Armenian-style bulgur pilaf served with plain yogurt.
