A Trip To The Cemeteries
Yesterday, I traveled to my hometown to take care of some special business. A gesture of respect, a tradition of the holidays, and something that can be fun. The business at had was decorating the family cemetery plots.
In this case, I only had to do one as a helpful Aunt had already done my parent’s plot and the other plot of her family. All I had to do was check those, but I did make some changes and do some additional work there. The real job of the day was the plot of my Dad’s parents. It is at what used to be a small country church and is complete with iron fence and such. The church has someone who cares for the grounds, but I find myself always raking and doing a bit more to get things to where I think they should be.
I placed the wreath, raked and cleaned a bit, and then wove garland of flowers and holly into place. The result was:
I also got to do a small amount of visiting whilst there, but it is never enough. Never enough time and never enough visits.
