A Quick Note To A Driver

Everyone, this season especially, please remember that putting the car in drive does not mean put the brain in park simultaneously. When one is on a busy interstate at a very nasty merge, it is not a great idea to suddenly decide that you need to make the exit you are passing. It is not a great idea to suddenly decide this and hit the brakes when you are in the leftmost lane. It is a very, very bad thing to come to an almost complete stop in the second to the left lane, especially if portions of your vehicle might be in another lane and thus limiting the ability of people to dodge you. The semis are bigger than you are, and you will not win any argument with them. In this case, most cars were bigger than you, and we came much closer than I care for to finding out if Pups were bigger and tougher than your car. To compound this by then swerving across four or so lanes of traffic at almost right angles makes you not merely an idiot, but a fair target for anything that does happen to you. Take a moment and think of someone else for a change. Are you really so self-centered and inconsiderate that you are willing to cause the deaths of others just to make a freaking exit? What about the person who might, with complete justification, turn you into street pizza and then have to deal with that for the rest of their lives? What about any who are just hurt or crippled by your actions?

For crying out loud, if you are in this situation miss the frelling exit. There are others. Get over in a legal and reasonable manner, get off at the next exit, and go back. If you don't have the brains and sense enough to figure this out and do it, please do all of us a favor and give up your license right now. Frankly, I don't care what happens to you, but I do care if you take innocents with you.

You must drive near some of the same folks that I see on the roads.
