Aiding The Good
As pointed out in this post, we each have a choice about doing things to make the world a better place. One of the most important is to give of ourselves.
Yes, we all lead hectic lives, and time is precious. Yet, each of us can find an hour here or there to make a difference. You can volunteer as a subject matter expert for Scouting to help advance the mental growth of boys and girls. You can volunteer with any number of other youth programs as well. Many states have soldier's homes where simply a visit, a smile, and a thank you can make an incredible difference. Nursing homes also need people to come in and simply sit with someone, to talk, to listen, to smile. Animal shelters need people to scoop poop, make repairs, and do other things. Schools often need people to come talk on career day or as subject-matter experts on things from arts to sciences.
There are so many things you can do to make a positive difference in the world. Some take less than an hour, and some can become a lifetime of reward. What they all take, is you.
