What Would You Use

If you knew someone starting a new blog, what software would you recommend they use? MT? EE? Other? Why do you recommend it?

I would really be interested in an answer to this question. I currently use Blogger, but want to move to something else. I've looked at Moveable Type, WordPress, and Typepad, but still can't decide. I have the domain, I just need to make the commitment.

So, I'll be looking closely. -- echo9er

well, I loves me my new MT digs, but I've heard EE is very good and very powerful, if a little difficult to learn initially....

I've had good success with WordPress. It's flexible, has a working demo you can try out for posting and such on line so you can try it out before you install anything, and it's free.

You can do plain vanilla or go nuts with CSS if you like.

Link's at the bottom of my own blog, for instance.

I've been with MT since I started, and I've been really happy with it.

One big plus is that because of it's popularity, if you have a problem you can drop a message in the support forums and someone will give you a clue in short order.

One big downside was that spammers targeted MT blogs more than the others (again, becuse of their popularity). I can say from experience that the new version of MT (I think they're at 3.17 now) has some very nice comment moderation features and the SpamLookUp plug-in works wonders for blocking and eliminating spam.
