June 08, 2005Lair Update: SolariumWhat I think used to be the front porch (that's what it would have been in the South) on the lair was converted a while back into a solarium: ![]() The colour was a variant of avacado green, and there were problems in one area from what turned out to be a current roof leak. ![]() The new look is much warmer, with the walls now a gold satin, the first stage of trim in rose of copper, and the remaining trim going gloss white. The problem area has been worked and should stay fixed if the new roof gets up on schedule. Only when the new roof is on will the ceiling be done in gloss white. This room has taken some time because of the need to fix a few things and because of the detail in the trim. It has also convinced me to never again do fancy trim in a colour that is a two-stage process... LW Posted by wolf1 at June 8, 2005 11:18 AM | TrackBackComments That reminds me of our "second bedroom" in this apartment. Same size, and all windows on the same two outer walls. The landlord's sister calls it the sun room, which is about right. This was where I'd figured Sadie would go, but it has never progressed past storage, and the more recent plan was our bed and nightstand-type tables would go in there, taking the entire width of the room and much of the length. We'd be better off with a "2 bedroom" that is four large rooms, rather than a "2 bedroom" that has 5 rooms, two of them small enough to be hard to use.
