A Funeral For A Friend

The funeral for R was on Wednesday and our office drove over and up to it. The preacher made a good point about taking responsibility for yourself and your actions being the first step in changing your life for the better. He should have stopped there. The best part, to my mind, was a release of butterflies graveside. There was a poem on a card attached to the box with the butterfly I was given:

While Waiting For Thee

Don't weep at my grave, for I am not there,
I've a date with a butterfly to dance in the air.
I'll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free,
Playing tag with the wind, while I'm waiting for thee.

The one I let go took a minute or three to recover, then circled several times and began to spiral up into the sky. I lost sight of it as it climbed higher and higher, and went on its new journey. Fitting. Thanks for being a part of my life R.

Glad you got to say, the "see you laters". So sorry for your loss.

Once again well said.

The release of butterflies graveside... what a very cool thing to do.
