Boudicca's Poll

Boudicca has a poll up and would love to hear from males on it. I have put in my two cents worth there, but the short version is that age difference is not an issue with me -- it is the maturity levels involved. I would far rather have a relationship with someone with a large age difference who is mature, than with someone my own age who is immature. Short term, I am male and therefore lower than pond slime, so reserve the right to indulge in a short term/one night with someone strictly on looks basis, but for a real relationship it takes maturity on both parts.

I think part of the difficulty in the poll is that she is basing the poll off Hollyweird types, or at least that is from whence the question sprang. To my mind, that is a null set to start with, since most from there have the intellectual and emotional maturity of a jellyfish. And that may have just insulted any number of jellyfish and man-o-wars out there. Are there female actors that fall in the would-you-for-one-night category for me? Oh, yes. Are there female actors who fall in the serious relationship category for me? Not so many. The relationship that sparked the poll is one that I have been trying my best to ignore as it is pure Sept. 10, 2001 and pure dreck otherwise. All I will say on it is that they deserve each other, and leave it at that.

So, go on over and give an honest answer.

Well... first I don't follow Hollywood at all, which y'all know. So it's become a joke with one of my readers how for some reason this thing with Tom and Katie annoys me. I think it annoys me because in general I hate the whole 'change who I am and what I believe for a man' thing and this deal has put it out there for me to see... wherever I turn. Women like that just irritate the stew out of me. And Tom has always come across as very simple to me. I would not waste a day pass on him. As I have been known to say, "Intelligence is the ultimate aphrodisiac."

So..

I was kind of joking when I put the poll up as a "Can you believe anyone would be so immature to say this" and "would you REALLY want to marry someone who was this immature".

However, the way I worded it, it came out as an age issue... which it is not. To me... its 100% maturity and the statment she made, in my opinion, was just extraordinarily immature.

But... in reality, I think the average guy really wouldn't care about that, this maturity thing. YOU do, but most... not so much.

I was going to take exception to the "lower than pond slime" comment, but then I read the "shot by the outraged father of a 16-year-old" comment and felt instead that it was an insult to the slime... ;0)
