Book Meme

Well, it looks as though Da Goddess is not just content with hitting a major milestone (Congratulations!), so she hits me with this meme. Glad to know I am her favorite wolf. So, here we go:

1. Number of books I own
I honestly don't know, but suspect it is in excess of 1,000. What I do know is that there were roughly 50 boxes of books involved in the recent moves. That does not count what was in the car, suitcase, etc.

While it is not asked, I will admit that they tend to fall into the following categories:

Science Fiction/Fantasy
Cookbooks
Fiction
Biographies/History
Science (aerospace, bio, psych, materials science)
Weapons
Communications (text, research, etc.)
Photography/Art
Religion
Sexuality
General Reference

2. Last book bought

Oh dear, not really sure. I think it was Jock Sturges: Notes Jock Sturges is to people photography as Adams was to nature/scenic photography. He got a very bad rap a few years ago when an overly ambitious (and clueless) DA tried to charge him with child pornography because there were nude children in some/many of the shots. Absolute and unmitigated bullshit. What that man does with faces and eyes is incredible.

3. Last book I read
Last new book I read was either a wolf book or We Few by Weber and Ringo. I think. Not real sure as I tend to read quite a bit and split it between old favorites and new work. It used to be I had to read before I could fall asleep, and I still tend to read every night.

4. Five books that mean a lot to me:

Just Five?

The Crystal Cave
Young Winston
Duel of Eagles
Lord of the Rings
Stranger in a Strange Land

Not going to tag anyone, but if anyone cares to take up the challenge...

Cool books. We have a few in similar taste. And - Nope, not going to do another meme if I can get out of it for a while. Took me 3 weeks to get the last one done. ;-)

Your collection is almost as eclectic as mine, and among your ffavoourite five are some I have thoroughly enjoyed as well! Seems we have several common tastes there.

1. 500+ (SciFi, Sci, Classic Lit., nonFic)

2. Old Man's War and Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

3. new: Old Man's War, old: Delights and Shadows

4. (Couldn't stop at 5!) Alice in Wonderland, Foundation series, Heidi, Jane Eyre, The Lord of the Rings, The Magic Garden, Pride and Prejudice, The Price of Salt, Time Enough for Love, The World of Pooh

Wow, what a nice trip down memory lane, now I'm going to have to go reread everything on my list - it's been a long time for some of them!

You'd be surprised what books make it into my collection. There's a little somthing for everyone and a couple of things for no one.

Thanks for playing, Wolfie Baby! You're a prince.

You never know how many books you have until you go to move, back breaking books.
