Good News/Not Sure News

The good news is that I am now formally out of the apartment and have a signed paper saying everything was left in good shape. More on that later, but again I do not ever recommend renting from AIMCO.

The not so good news involves last night's storm and the new roof being put on the place. I had been told that all would be secure, and that there would be no problems. About 1940 hours last night, I found out that such was not the case. The solarium was leaking like a sieve, and -- injured elbow and all -- I found myself trying to get most of the boxes and stuff stacked in there moved and unpacked. Unfortunately, the den where I had planned to move most of it was leaking as well, as was one of the upstairs bedrooms, the master closet... I called the contractor and he was going to come help, but had trees down blocking his street. He did send someone, unfortunately they showed up two hours later after I had everything moved that could be moved. I think the wood floor in the solarium will be okay, and I think that I got everything out before it could all be damaged, but the light of day will tell.

More later.

Well I'm glad you're out of the apartment - but the roof? The Roof??

Dude I'm so sorry. Here hoping everything is just fine and that the contractor can get it fixed quickly!

Congrats on getting out of the apartment, but the roof bit sucks. Brand new shingles get blown off?

Hope all works out, and soon.

*sigh* this sounds like the kind of thing that happens to us with houses... I'm really sorry, what a bummer. The cost of any damage should be picked up by your home owners insurance - and the roofer should pay any deductible! Keep a really close eye on those wood floors - they tend to warp very badly with water damage.
