October 09, 2005Blog Sabbath![]() Not sure what they are/were, but came up in the middle of the yard while I was in Baltimore. Below are a few I have planted. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fall is in the air, and the flowers soon shall be no more. LW Posted by wolf1 at October 9, 2005 03:32 PM | TrackBackComments Hmmm - if you have a pic of that top set from above, I might be able to identify them for you - they look vaguely familiar. Posted by: Kathy K at October 9, 2005 07:15 PMFrom the side, looks kind of like a tulip (or close relative) - but I can't really tell... Posted by: Kathy K at October 9, 2005 07:29 PMI don't think I've told you lately, but you take the most beautiful pictures. Posted by: Bou at October 10, 2005 03:14 AMThey're crocus. Mine always come up first thing in the late winter... Yours must be confused! EW Posted by: English Werewolf at October 10, 2005 07:51 PMMy favorite are the lovely blue flowers in the last photo. Wowie! Posted by: Princess Jami at October 10, 2005 09:16 PMBeautiful Posted by: vw bug at October 10, 2005 09:58 PMThe top one looks like Crocus Sativus - Saffron Crocus; it's hard to see the stamens in your picture, they should be an intense yellow-orange as they are the source of the spice saffron. There are several other fall blooming crocuses (and the related colchicums) that are of similar color, so it could be one of them too. I just love all of your flower photos. They are really beautiful Posted by: snow09queen at October 11, 2005 10:41 PMPost a comment
