Iran

This one has to be short because of time, but let me just say:

SANCTIONS WON'T WORK

What we should have already been doing (and hopefully did/are) is working with the multiple groups in there that want regime change from within. The theocracy does not like or trust the people, and they know that they are not all that far away from having power slip from their grasp. We need to be funding, providing external support of all types, and providing supplies. We need to be working hard to make the mullah's nightmares come true.

If we are not already doing so, someone needs one day soon to explain why. We also need to start now and make up for lost time.

Sanctions can be used as a distraction, to make the theocracy believe we are still in our national political quagmire and that the President will have to work through the UN until it is too late. That is all for which they are going to be good.

If regime change is not possible within the limited time frame in which we must now work, then we must be prepared to take out the facilities -- no matter the cost. For the cost of not doing so will be far, far greater. If it can be done with a limited strike, and that strike can also include some additional targets that will facilitate regime change, so much the better. If that can't happen for whatever reason, we still need to take them out.

There is, of course, a lot more behind this, but I lack the time to do it justice. Go read the Iran blog links down there on the right, and some of the better blogs, and make an informed decision of your own.

We have been doing this quietly discretely and in my opinion in so small a scale through international orgs that any impact is negligible.

Great post for a quickie!

I mentioned this elsewhere but herre's my fear, hypothetical it may be:

Iran already has the know to develop nuclear weapons. By breaking the seals they now have the capacity

They Goad Israel in to war. Iran, lead by a person who had already proven himself to be fanatical, quickly escalated it in to a nuclear war.

Israel calls to longtime ally US for assistance, especially since we have a large force deployed to Iraq currently.

Syria sides with Iran for matters of convience and they know that since the US is in Iraq we will more than likey go right thru Syria. Among other reasons because we suspect terrorist holding camps in the region

Britain and Austrailia job with the US as well as possibly Jordan Saudi Arabi and possibly Egypt.

Germany and France of course are Wild Cards.

Welcome to World War 3 brought to you by the same basic madmen in the Middle Eat since 1978

First - I'm sure there are at least half a dozen action plans in Bush's top drawer, and I think he needs pull one out right soon.

Second - "Great post for a quickie!" - I giggled inappropriately when I read that :-)
