Interview With A Wolf

For those visiting because of the interview at NewsBlaze and/or the post by Army Wife Toddler Mom, welcome.  I’ve been a bit slack recently, and blame work.

For regulars, check it out.  I did not put up a link to it earlier as I hate how I look and sound on TV.  I knew others were promoting it, so…

Fan-Frelling-Tastic:  JihadGene is Blogging!

Right when I thought that yet more professional-and-moral cowardice by school officials would spike my blood pressure fully up into stroke range, good news came my way:  JihadGene is blogging!  This is great news to anyone with a sense of humor, and who appreciates humor being wielded like a razor-edged sword at very worthwhile targets.  Spread the word far and wide on this one, because it is one you truly need to read.  That said, I hope he will remain a great reader and frequent contributor here and elsewhere.

Anyone Familiar With SecondLIfe?

I’ve been requested by a client to “evaluate” SecondLife (said request eliciting a “Isn’t one enough for him” comment from a co-worker).  I am checking it out, but if anyone has done both personal or professional work there, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Parentage Acknowledged, Slowly

I think it is about time I started acknowledging my blog children.  After all, Tammi just celebrated her 4th year.  Of course, I’m still not sure that her birth was within regulations since both Lex and I are her fathers…

Soldiers Angels Wounded Warrior Support is just starting, and if her son starts blogging as threatened, then Baldilocks and I can claim parentage of him.

Hmmmm.  Seems I am a lot less straight laced and careful in blog propagation than I am with normal propagation.  Somehow am not sure that safe blogging will ever catch on.  Or, at least let’s hope not as in this case, the more the better.

Updates Underway

After far too long a time, I am starting to update and re-do the blogroll.  If you want to nominate someone for a category, let me know.  If you have been dropped, and aren’t dead yet, let me know.  If you think you should be in a different category, make your case.  There is still a long ways to go, but it has started—and I am giving the pebbles a chance to vote.

A Wish List

People have liked the videos and more, and I am slowly compiling a wish list of things that will help deal with the areas needing improvement; a list of things I would love to have and would make things better in my opinion; and, a list of things that would help me prepare for the next embed.  This will be getting updated, and maybe even bumped up a time or two…

Wireless microphones to help improve audio:
The good
The better
The best?
Maybe this one

Additional Hardware
And some headphones for editing and travel
If you really want the video bumped up this will do it
A couple of these memory cards would be nice
As would a couple of these for backup and storage that can survive almost anything…

Shotgun microphones
would be nice...
or this one

Batteries
one or two of these
one of these...

External Hard Drives
This one looks really good for field work
For home, as many of these MiniStack V3 in 500Gb or 750Gb anyone cares to send would help.  I knew video took room, but really didn’t appreciate how much it does…

Fitness
This thing is good but meaner than it looks
An incline bench
A flat flat utility bench
A nice barbell rack
Or, just send a Dick’s Sporting Goods gift certificate and I will go get flooring, weights, and more.  smile

More soon,

Welcome To My Visitors

Good Morning!

If you are coming here from CNN, please look around and be welcome.  If you are looking for my reporting from Iraq, the non-military is here and the military can be found at Blackfive including all the posts on DJ and Operation Puppy Love.  If you have questions, send them on and I will do my best to answer once I get back from Wolf Park.  Yes, those are wolves I was with; yes, we were out on a frozen lake; no, they are not domesticated; and, no, they don’t scare me but do earn my respect.  Come on out and visit us to see for yourself.

Also, since getting DJ out was a team effort, I want to thank once again the soldiers of 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  Thanks for hosting me, and thanks for letting me be a part of this.  I also want to thank Soldier’s Angels, Prudent Publishing (parent company of The Gallery Collection), and Gryphon Airlines.  My embed, and Operation Puppy Love, would have been impossible without them.

LW

UPDATE:  Well, they didn’t show the wolves, but go check out Wolf Park and Wolf Park’s Photos of the Day to see what you missed.

Announcing The Laughing Wolf YouTube Channel

Yep, I’ve finally started my own YouTube Channel so I can post videos that aren’t right for Blackfive, versions where Cecil B. DeJimbo and I have creative differences *G*, etc.  If you get the chance, please do go check it out.

Free Ice Cream Shortage Continues!

This time courtesy of spammers, who so charmingly resulted in my awaking to find more than 2100 e-mails in one of the inboxes this morning.

A PayPal Ooops

I want to thank everyone for the public and private words of encouragement.  You have no idea how much they mean, help, and are appreciated!

I also want to thank everyone who has been donating here or at PMI.  We are off to a good start, and it gives me hope that we might be able to raise the money fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, I have to report that the inevitable bug in the system has been found.  Actually, the bug may have been a factor for a couple of years now.  Apparently, a couple of years ago, a change in the system created a pathway to nowhere for my PayPal button.  After getting some comments and e-mail indicating people were donating but not seeing any activity, I began checking and got PayPal to start some checking.  I quickly created a brand new button and installed it which does work, and thanks to JanB for the successful test.  Glad I didn’t wait, as PayPal didn’t bother to suggest this obvious idea until this morning…

The problem is with the donations that went we know not where.

If you have made a donation anywhere over the last two years and up until about 3 p.m. Eastern yesterday that I have not acknowledged, please hold/halt/cancel that donation and resubmit using the current button.  I apologize for this, and appreciate your donations and your time very much.  Thank You!

May this be the worst glitch that I have to deal with in regards this embed!

Well, What Do You Think?

Personally, I think Phin has done an outstanding job and the artwork provided by the illustrious Chris Muir rocks!  But, what matters is what you think.  So, let me know.

A Declaration

The ideas and opinions expressed by me are mine and mine alone.  They do not represent the view of any other author, authority, or non-authority blowhard; any U.S. federal, state, or local government agency or administration; the Politburo, the pirates of lower Arbat street, the Diet, or any other foreign government, government agency, or administration; any employer or client; any spouse or significant other; any past, present, or future mother-in-law, in-law, out-law, cousin, aunt, uncle, or other relative; any friend, acquaintance, co-worker, or that strange person down at the coffee shop; any supervisor or person supervised; any organization for which work is done on a paid or volunteer basis; the dog, the cat, and most especially the wolves; and, are neither approved or disapproved by any employer, client, member of the government, or any corporation or other business entity.  If any person, agency, organization, employer, or other desires to pre-approve content, they can bite me, knowing that I bite back and have been learning from the best.  If any person, agency, organization, employer, or other desires to chastise, reprimand, discipline, demand changes, or otherwise express opprobrium for my thoughts and work posted here, there, anywhere, or even in private, they may do so as allowed by law; however, I once again suggest they bite me.  All provisions, decisions, declarations, demarcations, and other are subject to availability and no warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied.  Tag, tax, and title are extra.

Any comment or post by another author belongs to them and is their problem, not mine; and, leaving said post or comment up here, there, or elsewhere does not imply or acknowledge acceptance, agreement, or even that it has been read.  Comments are subject to the rules as set forth in comments policy, and registering and posting is agreement to and with said policies.  Comments are subject to counter-commentary, praise, ridicule, change, deletion, alteration, or pretty much whatever I choose to do either upon mature reflection, profound thought, or wild hair on a whim.  Regardless of category of the latter, all decisions are final and not subject to appeal, redress, or even to be given a dress.  While the right to an opinion is respected, there is no legal, moral, or ethical requirement that all opinions have to be respected, because quite frankly, some of them are so poorly thought out, posited, or considered so as to be beyond idiotic.  Nor do I acknowledge or accept that all opinions have equal value and acceptance by myself or anyone else.  They don’t.  Deal with it.

This concludes the declaration, and we return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
