Laughing Wolf

Several times now, I had something very creepy happen in regards my embed.  While most people are supportive and very honest in telling me to keep my head down, I’ve also had some do something else.  These people have all told me not to get my head cut off.  That in and of itself is not a bad thing, and I do plan to do all I can to keep my head.  Yet, the way it has been said is such that while the right words are being said, they also have been said in such a way as to convey a clearly opposite meaning.  As in, they hope that I do get my head cut off.  There do seem to be some common things that unite those that have done this:  they all self-identify as Democrat or liberal; they all have been annoyed that I was quite set on seeing and reporting what I saw and not what they thought I should see; and, that I disagreed with them on certain events and “facts” and had citations to back up what I said.  I would also note that most or all appear to worship at the altar of the Goreacle as well.  While not as openly orgasmic at the thought of my losing my head as was Carl Prine over at Blackfive a while back, they seemed quite, well, hopeful.  While there are always going to be fringe elements, this is not what I regard as a good sign for the body politic, and clearly not a sign of rational discourse.  Interesting.

Oh HELL no! They did NOT say that!!!

I’m sitting here SPEECHLESS (yes, me) over the very idea that ANY human being IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would communicate such a sentiment. In ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!

And that includes sarcasm, inuendo, body language, ALL THAT!!!!

Interesting indeed.  There are some real strange people walking around now days.  I’m constantly amazed at the level of uncivilized behavior that passes for acceptable in some circles.

We have a reality-challenged individual here in the lab that thinks that his nephew (a USAF mechanic who works on Air Force One) should leave out a bunch of bolts and etc so that the plane goes down with the President in it.  I told him that was more appropriate for some third-world banana republic than the United States, and he replied that we ARE a third-world country now, and was very adamant about it.  I pointed out that his $40k sports car rather belies that opinion, but he didn’t have an answer for that.

Uhhhh, I don’t even know who you are.  I can’t imagine I have ever expressed in any way the ideation that someone should get injured for doing anything.

I especially take the safety of journalists in combat zones seriously.  Listen to what your Soldiers tell you and do what they say; wear your safety equipment (including your eye protection); don’t put out ads that you’re a western reporter (the bounty is in the tens of thousands of dollars); keep your mitts off weapons and don’t stray from a patrol, ever.

If you don’t know any Arabic, start learning some, especially if you’re going out with the IAs or IPs. 

Since I don’t even know you, I wouldn’t know your politics.  I don’t have any, and I can’t imagine anyone would seriously wish for you to die.  That’s insane.

In the future, please don’t use my name to prove a point reason or facts won’t do for you.  I can’t think of many reporters who have volunteered to serve their nation in an infantry unit, so if you’re going to abuse my reputation you should probably back it up.

Carly, Carly, Carly.  All those comments and exchanges over at Blackfive, and you don’t remember me?  Ah, sweet bull, but then you’ve always been full of it, or perhaps you thought that Blackfive was using sockpuppets like others we know? 

As for the good advice, have done, and will do. The thought is appreciated.

Your comments about me over there did raise an eybrow or three, but accept your comment here in regards anyone wishing me death.  I agree that such is insane, but politics does not lead to a great deal of sanity these days…
