Comcast Sucks

Letter to the FCC sent just moments ago:

Greetings,

My name is Blake Powers and this evening at roughly 1815 hours, I received a call on my mobile phone with a pre-recorded message I couldn’t understand.  I pushed the button indicated to go to a live person, and found out I was dealing with Satellite Promotions in Dallas, Texas.  AJ, the supervisor (and that is all the name he gave) told me his number was 571-283-6405 and that he had every right to call as Comcast had sold him the number.

My beef isn’t with AJ, as he was a good sport and indicated I would go on their do not call list.  My complaint is with Comcast.  When I moved to this area, Insight was the cable provider and I gave them that number with the promise it would not be sold, would not be used for marketing, and only used for service issues.  I was repeatedly assured of this and in the several years that they had the cable monopoly in this area, that promise was good.

I am dismayed to find out that Comcast did not feel bound to that agreement, and I can only presume that they knowingly sold the mobile number as I had asked (and was assured) that the number was clearly marked as a mobile.

Please advise me what form or process I can use to file a formal complaint over this sale.  I would very much like to have Comcast do whatever it takes to get that number back, but know that isn’t possible.

Thank you very much for your time and help on this.

I’ve also sent an e-mail to Rick Germano - SVP Customer Operations, Comcast via a web form (you can find it here should you care to express any civil thoughts), expressing my displeasure.  I now have the fun joy of being sure my mobile is on national and state do not call lists.  Wonder if I can bill them for the time each call takes—hourly billing that is, not minutes used…

who thinks he may go satellite or with any other provider other than Comcast, and hopes to find a way to cost them even more winos to pack a hearing room...

UPDATE:  Welcome visitors from Comcast!  Feel free to look around.
